FORT MIR CHAKAR KHAN: THE HISTORICAL TREASURE OF BALUCHISTAN, PAKISTAN

Fort Mir Chakar Khan is believed to be one of popular 15th century forts located at outskirt in Sibi. You’ll find a very historical traditional caravanserai (traditional accommodation for camel caravans), the Sohbat Serai, built by the tribal chief Sardar of that place Sohbat Khan here too. The Caravan Sarai here is merely the rare glimpse of old times when Camels were the only means of travel. It is worth seeing for the historians.

Mir Chakar Khan Rind who is also famous as Meer Chakar Khan or Chakar-i-Azam (1468-1565) was a renowned Sardar of Baloch tribe during the time period of 15th century. He is remembered as a hero of Baloch folk tribes. Furthermore, Mir Chakar is a significant figure in the Baloch epic Hani and Sheh Mureed. The same ancient city of Sibi which was at that time known as sevi was the birth place of great warrior Mir Chakar Khan. Mir Shahak Khan was the father of Mir Chakar Khan. After the death of his father in 18th century, he became head of Rind tribe. Mir Chakar was the warrior who defeated Lashari tribe after “30 Years War”. This was astonishing that after that Mir Chakar having warrior nature went to lead a war against King Sher Shah Suri in the region of Afghanistan but sadly he was defeated by the King. After the defeat, Mir Chakar Khan settled in the province of Punjab region in the year of 1518 and left Baluchistan.
The great Balochi warrior and the head of Rind Tribe then passed away in the year of 1565.His tomb was built in the area of Satghara which is located in Okara district now by his people who accompanied him after leaving Baluchistan.

The Fort Mir Chakar Khan was built in his time which is now one of the popular historical tourist destinations in Sibbi but because of lack of attention and proper preservation the fort now changed in to ruins. Fort Mir Chakar Khan is very wide that once it just encircled the whole Village but as time passes because of increase in population the wall was broken down. This rich ancient fort owned a wooden big door which might remind us of the old was tactics but because of less attention by Governments it went off in revenges of time. The particular authorities should take notice for taking care of this historical treasure.
