MELBOURNE: West Indies batsman Chris Gayle scored 50 from 12 balls for the Melbourne Renegades in the Big Bash League on Monday to equal the Yuvraj Singh’s record of India for the fastest half-century in T20 cricket..

The opening batsman Gayle beat21-year-old Adelaide Strikers bowler Greg West, playing his 2nd T20 match, for 27 runs in the 1st over and smash the last 4 deliveries for 6.

His 7th maximum took Gayle past his half-century as he deposited spinner Travis Head over the long-on boundary.
