Baha Lake (Urdu: باہا جھیل, Khowar: باہو چھت) is located in the area of Shandur Valley Tehsil Gupis of Ghizer District, Ghizer District, the westernmost region of the Northern Areas and northernmost territory of the country Pakistan. This lake is a significant source of fresh water with abundance of Trout fishes. Baha Lake is very wonderful but mysterious lake in the state of Pakistan.
Baha Lake is situated in the area of Koh-i-Ghizer of District Ghizer, Gilgit-Baltistan, Pakistan. The estimate terrain height above the sea level is 3622 meters (11883.2 ft). Its proposed direction is from the side of North to South. To arrive in this Baha Lake, an individual must take the route of Karakoram Highway from the capital city of Islamabad to Gilgit. And then take Gilgit-Chitral path west from the area of Gilgit, and then sustain his journey direct towards Chitral. When it comes in the area of Langar, the primary road goes towards the place of Shandur and on the Left Hand Side to the way of south direction, Khukush Nallah Starts. One can’t take any bike or bicycle as there are very dangerous trek road to reach this beautiful Baha Lake. It takes two hours from the region of Langar to reach at Baha Lake. A person, after crossing several tricky treks, instantly reaches at the area of Baha Lake, he never consider that such a picturesque place is situated in the country of Pakistan.
Baha Lake has a stunning natural beauty. Its color is as blue as the clear sky has. It is the greatest and longest natural lake in the area of Gilgit-Baltistan. It is five km in length and 750 meters in the width. It is not a convenient or easy job for an individual to complete a tour round the lake. Apparently, it’s a mysterious and strange lake, although it is not so.
At the time of night, it’s very clearly heard that there comes a weird sound of bang from the lake. Tourists get frightened of it but it’s a very natural phenomenon, which may be the crash of stones inside the lake, or the sound of large Trout fishes existing in the lake.
